Following rapid growth of touch rugby locally, the 2025 Canadian Touch Rugby Nationals will be held for the first time ever, in Colwood, BC on June 28th and 29th.
Ten teams from across Canada will be competing over two days at Juan De Fuca recreation centre, featuring a number of internationally capped players.
“The growth of the sport in the last three years has been immense,”
Touch Canada President Daryl Conneely said.
“I am very excited to see our sport on display at the highest level in Colwood and expose some new fans to the blistering speed of touch rugby.”
In touch rugby’s open divisions, both teams must field three men and three women at all times, giving it a unique inclusivity that not many sports can offer.
The resurgence of the fast paced sport has been fueled by the Canadian national teams entering last year's world cup of touch rugby for the first time since 1988 with not only one team but three teams in different divisions.
Meralomas Touch Rugby Club will be looking to retain their Canadian title against challengers from as far east as Montreal and as far south as Portland.
Attendance to the event is completely free, with games playing on Saturday from 10am until 4.40pm and Sunday from 8.40am until 5pm.
